My first attempt at oil painting

<<SDC11249.jpg>>
Having only used watercolours I felt the time was right to have a go at oils.  This is my first attempt.  I followed the TV lesson presented by the late Bob Ross and was pleasantly surprised with the finished painting.

I loved working with oils.  There seems to be much more freedom than with watercolours.  I just wished I'd tried it a lot sooner.

I can't wait to get outside and have a go at real life.

That's great for a first attempt, Steven, with some nice colours and textures.

I expect you will want to develop a looser style in the same way that you have with your watercolours.

Indeed great for a first attempt. You are realy using oil as it is ment to, with "thick blobs"

Thanks Keith, to be honest I don't know what style of painting I'll end up with. I'm pleasantly suprised with the effects you can get with oils and am eager to learn more.

Thanks Dick, as you say, I do love the look of thick blobs of oil on a canvas.
