Evening in New York, 7" x 5" Watercolour Painting

I love the big city skylines, especially at night.  Having painted pretty much exclusively countryside and mountains recently I felt it was time for a change.  This is my impression of New York as the sun begins to set.  I may experiment with a few more of these.  All paintings can be seen at http://www.stevencronin.com

Ooh, that is really interesting. How did you do the city skyline? It looks like you picked it out in nothing but water once the sky was dry.

Thanks NetRaptor. It was a very weak wash of the sky colours with a flat brush.

I wondered how you got that sort of effect. My only other idea for how you could have gotten it was if you had masked it somehow, but it didn't look real crisp, like masking does.
