Loch Slapin, Isle of Skye 15" x 11" Watercolour Painting

This is my impression of Loch Slapin on the Isle of Skye.  I've gone back to the larger 15" x 11" format which I'm more comfortable with.  I just can't get the same effects with the smaller hake brush.

Hi Steven have you been to the misty isle? It has ever changing skies and it is impossible to sit and paint as the lighting will change immediately! I tried sitting with pastels hoping to catch a fleeting moment and then it flew right by. I resorted finally to the camera! Lovely colours used in your Loch Slapin and the water is an interesting shade of green blue. Very nice work Steven. I hope you will get used to that small hake brush soon! I find it hard to work in a small size too. Skies need to be on a large sheet for impact!

Hi Caroline, no I’ve not been but I’d like to. It looks a lovely place. Several years ago there was a BBC drama called 2000 Acres of Skye that first brought the island to my attention. I’d love to live somewhere like that, away from the masses.
