Beinn Eighe from Incheril 15" x 11" Watercolour Painting

Painted from a photograph kindly offered to me by Keith Tilley, this is my impression of Beinn Eighe from Incheri.  As soon as I put those 2 trees in the centre of the picture I knew I'd made a compositional error.  I should have moved them further to the right, but never mind.

Book sales are disappointingly slow.  Indeed, if it wasn't for the lovely Gaenor over on Facebook I'd still be waiting for my first sale!  I'm beginning to think the cheap and cheerful black and white method may not work.  I did approach the publisher Collins and they pointed me in the direction of http://www.authonomy.com where authors, publishers, agents etc.converge so I'll have to have a think about that.

It looks like you took your time over the painting slowly building up area with washes of paint. Nice clean cut images, good composition and a lovely misty mountain in the distance. Very nice work Steven. Don't worry about the trees I didn't notice!

Having seen the view I can say that's just what it's like Steven.

I like the hazy mountain, which gives nice depth, and the trees are very good, even though you're right about the centre ones.

Thanks Caroline. To be honest, I sped through this one like I normally do. I rarely spend more than 20-30 minutes on a painting. I try to discover techniques that offer the maximum effect for the minimum effort. It's not that I'm lazy, it just seems more efficient!

Thanks Keith. It must be a nice place to visit. You're certainly spoilt up there for these types of scenes. You're very lucky!
