Evening, Loch Rannoch 15" x 11" Watercolour Painting

I think I should have reflected more of the yellow sky into the water.

Beautiful painting Steven, I think the light balance is fine, you do have the yellow in the water and if you put anymore in it may take away the intense colour in the sky. I think you have a lovely composition here, and I especially like the fore ground tree and how the eye can move from one area to another to find plenty of interest. Very fine work. What paper do you use?

Hello Steven. Yes I like this as it is as well. The sky is beautiful and stronger yellow in the water might have competed with it for interest.

Thanks Caroline for the kind words. Regarding the paper, I buy 130lb Fabriano paper in reams of 100 from artdiscount.co.uk basically because it is cheap. Part of my philosophy is that if I can get good results on the lower grade paper then if I ever use the good stuff it should be a lot easier.
