The River Calder at Muirshiel Park 15" x 11" Watercolour Painting

I've somehow managed to get this blog into the Google search results top 100 (page 10) under the keyword search for 'watercolour'.  Leaving the link to my eBay shop at the bottom of each post has also helped drag the shop into the top 110 (page 11) under the same keyword search.  Unfortunately I remember reading somewhere that unless you're in the first 2 pages of search results (top 20) then you may as well be nowhere as no one looks much further beyond.  Still a lot of work to be done I'm afraid.

Applecross River towards Cuillin Hills, Skye 15" x 11" Watercolour Painting

I've been focusing recently on making videos for my painting channel Watercolour Workshop over on YouTube.  I've got into the habit recently of videoing every painting that I do.  The idea is to help beginners get a foothold in the world of watercolour painting.  I remember when I started, I found watching videos much more helpful than reading books - you could actually see what the artist was doing rather than trying to interpret the words from a book.  Obviously it would be nice to be able to earn some revenue from it, they do have the GoogleAds advertising next to your video but this currently amounts to just pennies.  There's an interesting development in America.  They're running a pilot scheme where videos are viewed on a rental basis.  You set the price and duration and the video is viewable for that specific time period.  I would have to dramatically improve the professionalism of my films and make them longer than the current 10-15 minutes but it's certainly something to think about.

Glen More, Mull 15" X 11" Watercolour Painting

A gentleman asked me if I had any paintings of Mull having got married there several years ago.  Eager to oblige, I trawled through some photos on the internet and found a nice little composition from which I made this watercolour.

Blurb bookmakers can now sell on Amazon

Those who have tried their hand at bookmaking via may be interested to know you now have the option to list your new book on Amazon.  This obviously provides a much bigger marketplace for your titles.  Another benefit is potential customers can take advantage of the free delivery.  You also have the option to subscribe to an additional service that will list your books with many of the major wholesalers that supply to the high street, libraries etc.  In all, a very interesting development.

Loch Lomond, Scotland 15" x 11" Watercolour Painting

This is a very simple impression of Loch Lomond in Scotland.
Just wondering now when the first snowfall will happen by me.  I'm going to make the most of it this time and take a whole library of source photos.
