Bassenthwaite Lake from Whinlatter Pass, Cumbria, England 15" x 11" Watercolour Painting

This is a view towards Bassenthwaite Lake from Whinlatter Pass in the Lake District.  I'm really not sure about the foreground trees - I've made them look like wigwams!

Ullswater, Cumbria, England 15" x 11" Watercolour Painting

This is a simple view of Ullswater in the Lake District.  The painting looked a little bare so I added the small house to try and add interest.

Brent Knoll, Somerset 15" x 11" Watercolour Painting

This is a quick one of Brent Knoll near Burnham in Somerset.  It's always a relief to see as it marks where you finally come off the motorway on the journey down!

Banners Gate, Sutton Park, Sutton Coldfield 15" x 11" Watercolour Painting

This is my favourite watercolour I have painted recently.  I painted it from a photograph I took last winter in Sutton Park.  It was the first time I'd been to the park when it had snowed.  I was amazed how different the landscape looked in blanket white.  Fortunately I had my camera with me and immediately made use of it.  I can't wait  until this year's snowfall!

Towards Uphill from the top of Brean Down 15" x 11" Watercolour Painting

I made my way up the steep steps of Brean Down and turned right at the top.  Facing Uphill across the sea, you get a wonderful feeling of solitude as most people walk the other way towards the fort.  It must of been half an hour before anyone came near me.

Over on YouTube at my Watercolour Workshop video channel I'm just starting to get the hang of talking and painting at the same.  It's not as easy as it sounds.  It's just like when you learned to drive a car and the instructor used to talk to you but you had to ignore him so you could concentrate on the road.

Road to Brean Down Farm, Somerset 15" x 11" Watercolour Painting

This is another watercolour painted from a photograph I took recently in Brean, Somerset.  Just around the corner from a previous post, this time I'm walking away from Brean Down Cafe and heading towards Uphill next to Weston, though crossing the river is impossible if you heed the 'Danger of Death' signs.  The mud flats around this part of the coast are treacherous.  You regularly hear the coastguards loudspeaker up and down Brean / Berrow beach in his car telling people to return to the beach.  I heard a story recently of a little girl wading out and never being seen again.

Gate to Derwent Water 15" x 11" Watercolour Painting

A very loose impression of a slightly elevated view of Derwent Water in the Lake District.

I've finished my first prototype DVD containing videos I've put on YouTube recently and I'm quite pleased with it though it needs a few tweaks here and there.  Fortunately I came across DVD Maker in Windows Vista which though limited, makes the job very simple.

I've found a DVD duplication firm on the internet that can produce professional quality DVDs from your master copy for just over £2 per DVD which includes box, cover, inside leaflet and shrink wrapping.

Brent Knoll from Brean Down Cafe 15" x 11" Watercolour Painting

I painted this watercolour from a photograph I took on a recent visit to Brean.  For those that know the area, Brean Down Cafe is just behind me, whilst Brent Knoll is just visible in the distance.  I do like to paint open countryside and this part of Somerset is abundant with it.

Unfortunately the caravan park we stay at has now closed for the winter until next spring.  I'll have to make an effort to get to the coast over winter.  I've never seen snow on a beach and I'd like to witness it with my own eyes.
